Our Roots

The idea for Our Legacy Care Donation came in the quiet hours of the night in 2011 when our founder Joan woke up with a vision—what if we could sponsor elderly adults in the same way we sponsor children in need? Could donations help fund the care that so many seniors desperately require but cannot afford?

This vision was deeply personal. In 2008, our founder moved in to care for her grandmother, Agnes, who had been diagnosed with dementia. Despite the family's best efforts, finding consistent care was difficult, and the reality of elder care limitations became clear. After Agnes passed in 2009, the need for a solution to help seniors weighed heavily on her heart.

With years of experience in elder care management, taking calls from worried families and answering questions about services, costs, and insurance, she realized that one question always remained unanswered: “What if I can’t afford it?”Private in-home caregiving is often not covered by medical insurance, leaving many seniors without the help they need.

In 2013, the concept of Our Legacy Care Donation was born. Instead of creating a new care service, the nonprofit partners with existing home care agencies to provide financial assistance to seniors in need. These agencies already have licensed, bonded caregivers, ensuring that funds go directly toward trusted, professional care.

For too long, this vision remained just an idea. But with determination and support, Our Legacy Care Donation is now a reality, offering seniors the dignity, independence, and assistance they deserve. Through donations, we can ensure that no elderly adult is left without care simply because they cannot afford it. The need is great, but together, we can provide a solution.
